BRASÍLIA [ ABN NEWS ] — The Vice-President, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of the United Arab Emirates and Emir of Dubai, (HRH) Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, visited Brazil on April 22, in return for the visit of the Vice-President of the Brazil, Michel Temer, on November 10-12, 2013.

The Head of Government of the United Arab Emirates and delegation was received in audience by the President of the Republic and the Vice-President of the Republic at the Presidential Palace. In addition, the Vice-President of the Republic held a working meeting with the Emirates authority at the Palace of the Itamaraty (Foreign Ministry).

On this last occasion, the bilateral defense cooperation agreement was signed signed and the prospects for deepening the bilateral relationship will be discussed in the light of the interests of business and government leaders from both countries to intensify bilateral flow of goods, services and investments. The Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luiz Alberto Figueiredo and Defense Minister Celso Amorim attended the meetings.

Over the past five years, the bilateral exchange of high level visits between the two countries has been particularly intense. In addition to the visits of the Vice-President of the Republic to the UAE and of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to Brasilia, there have been 25 bilateral ministerial visits during this period, in addition to 14 missions headed by Governors and/or Vice-Governors of the Emirates to Brazilian states. The largest community of Brazilian citizens in the Arabian Peninsula, with approximately 4,500 national, lives in the Arab Emirates.
