KUALA LUMPUR [ ABN NEWS ] — It was smiles and ‘high fives’ all around when the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) was announced winner of the rAWr (Recognising Award Winning Results) Awards 2015 for ‘Purpose Built Convention & Exhibition Centre Award For Excellence’ in the Business Events category.

A delighted Alan Pryor, General Manager, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, said the Centre was honoured to receive her second consecutive rAWr award and “this recognition by our peers is an acknowledgement of the organisation’s contribution to the growth and development of Malaysia’s business tourism sector. This will further boosts our position as the country’s premier convention centre and one of Asia Pacific’s leading meeting venues.”

“In addition, the win will motivate our team to continue ‘pushing the envelope’ to deliver flexible, innovative and value-add solutions to clients across the board.”

The Centre’s rAWr award is her seventh (award) in as many months! The others are Expatriate Lifestyle Malaysia’s Best of Malaysia Awards 2015 for ‘Best MICE Experience’, Asia Pacific MICE Awards 2015 for Best Conference Venue, International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC) Innovation Award 2015 for TenOnCall, Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) 2015 for Best Email Marketing Campaign for her Culinaria campaign and the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Malaysia Chapter’s ‘Bailliage de Malasie Fine Dining Award’ (Confederation of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Malaysia Chapter Fine Dining Award) and ‘Dato Lau Foo Sun Excellence in Dining Award’.

The biennial rAWr Awards is a collaboration between the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) and the Malaysian Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (MACEOS) and recognises excellence, leadership, professional standards, innovation and best practices within the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) or business events industry. The awards cover 27 categories within the four main components of the industry – Business Events, Conventions, Incentives and Exhibitions. A new category was introduced this year, the Special Awards 2015 for incentive operators from India, China, South Korea and Indonesia, to applaud and further encourage top achievers of the Malaysia Twin Deal ++ (MTD) campaign 2013/2014 for bringing in large corporate and incentive groups.
